Diksha: A Sacred Mission of Compassion and Service
Our Vision:
Diksha is a sacred endeavor, born from the heart of Buddhist teachings, to unite the global Buddhist community and extend the light of Dhamma to all beings. We envision a world where compassion, wisdom, and selfless service prevail, guided by the principles of the Buddha’s path, particularly the Noble Eightfold Path – Right View, Right Intention, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, and Right Concentration. Furthermore, we are inspired by the principles of Panchsheel, the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, emphasizing mutual respect, non-aggression, non-interference, equality, and peaceful cooperation.
Our Mission:
As a faith-based organization, Diksha is committed to:
- Uniting the Sangha: We strive to create a global digital Sangha, a sacred space within the Diksha app, where Buddhist individuals and organizations can connect, collaborate, and strengthen their spiritual bonds. We aim to build the largest repository of Buddhist practitioners, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
- Disseminating the Dhamma: We are dedicated to sharing the profound wisdom of Buddha’s teachings through accessible digital platforms. We will create a central channel for the dissemination of authentic Dhamma, ensuring its availability to all seekers, emphasizing the Four Noble Truths and the path to liberation.
- Serving Humanity: Inspired by the Bodhisattva ideal and guided by the principles of the Noble Eightfold Path and Panchsheel, we extend our compassionate service to all beings, regardless of faith or background. We recognize the importance of Panchsheel in promoting global peace and harmony, and its principles guide our interactions with all communities and nations. Our initiatives include:
- Education: Providing quality education for underprivileged children, nurturing their minds with both scientific knowledge and ethical Buddhist principles, fostering Right Action and Right Livelihood. This includes providing online education, scholarships, and building schools in underserved communities.
- Healthcare: Establishing state-of-the-art healthcare facilities, collaborating with Buddhist nations and organizations to deliver compassionate care, reflecting Right Livelihood and Right Action in service to others. This also entails providing mobile health clinics, telemedicine services, and health education programs.
- Animal Welfare: Creating shelters and care centers for animals in need, reflecting the Buddhist teaching of reverence for all life and promoting Right Action and Right Livelihood through ethical and compassionate practices. This includes wildlife conservation efforts and promoting vegetarianism/veganism.
- Disaster Relief: Responding to humanitarian crises with compassion and efficiency, providing aid and support to those affected, embodying Right Action and Right Livelihood in service to others. This involves providing emergency supplies, building temporary shelters, and offering psychological support.
- Environmental Stewardship: Promoting sustainable practices and environmental conservation, fostering Right Action and Right Livelihood by cultivating respect for the Earth and all its inhabitants. This includes reforestation projects, promoting renewable energy, and educating communities about environmental sustainability.
- Elderly Care: Establishing centers and programs dedicated to providing compassionate care and support to elderly individuals, ensuring their dignity and well-being, reflecting Right Action and Right Livelihood.
- Mental Health Support: Offering mental health resources and support services, recognizing the importance of emotional well-being and practicing Right Mindfulness and Right Intention in helping those suffering from mental distress.
- Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding: Promoting non-violent conflict resolution and peacebuilding initiatives, fostering Right Speech and Right Intention in creating harmonious communities.
